What is Valor?

People come to a gym for change.

Most commonly for physical fitness, strength, weight loss, muscle gain, improved self esteem & confidence, and to feel a sense of belonging.

Traditional gyms tend to focus predominantly on and occasionally achieve success in the area of physical fitness (but rarely long term success), they get a little lost in the world of nutrition (due to misinformation and unhealthy nutrition practices), and have a history of doing more harm than good to a client’s mental health (defining success based off poor units of measurement and celebrating vanity based achievements over health and lifestyle success).

No gym is yet to succeed in consistently delivering long term, sustainable, life changing success by effectively delivering a quality service in all three areas of fitness, nutrition and the mind.

At Valor, this is our mission.

Why would I change my current program to try Valor?

Not only is our mission to help you achieve your goals… whether they be fat loss, muscle gain on become an absolute fitness machine… we teach you the tools to create positive lifestyle habits and actually sustain them. We are completely against the idea of quick fix dieting and fad fitness programs, because they don’t work. We want you to succeed and stay successful FOREVER.

Who can join? Do I have to be super fit?

No. This is a common misconception about CrossFit. You don’t have to be fit to do CrossFit, you do CrossFit to be fit. Beginner or elite athlete, we will scale the workout to suit your needs.

What does a typical training session involve?

You show up at a your session and receive instruction and guidance from a certified coach. There will be multiple people in the class, all doing the same workout (though scaled to each persons ability), and all starting on 3,2,1..GO. The workout typically involves a dynamic warm up, strength / skill practice, workout of the day (WOD), and a cool down. Some people stay after class to practice movements because they are having so much fun!

Is CrossFit a one size fits all approach?

No. Actually, CrossFit programming enables you to personalise your workout to your current level of fitness and your goals. While the workouts are predetermined to provide the right combination of strength, conditioning and mobility exercises, you ultimately determine how fast you go and how much weight you use.

Why does it cost $XX.XX dollars a week, when the 24 hr gym only costs $XX.XX?

We do every single thing in our power to guide you to success. We will literally go to your house and help you clean out your pantry if you need. We will help you set realistic goals and create lifelong sustainable habits suited perfectly for you and where you are currently at in your journey towards better health. We check in with you when you’ve gone missing. We will sit down with you for a chat on a bad day. We are accessible to message 24/7. We will ALL know your name and know your story. We will make you feel welcomed and appreciated every time you enter our doors. We will show you what your body is actually capable of and teach you skills you cannot learn anywhere else.

We work for you. ?

If I'm injured can I still do CrossFit?

If you are injured it is very important to continue training to prevent yourself from going backwards from your current level of fitness. Injuries only limit certain limbs or ranges of motion. We, as coaches, are prepared for people with injuries and can specifically modify training programs to not only avoid further injury to any injury, but aim to rebuild strength and mobility to your affected areas. The most common pre-existing injuries we look after with include knees, backs and shoulders.

The Olympic lifts just look like a recipe for injury disaster, and also very intimidating to try myself. Should I really do them?

Of course! In fact, research studies show that there is less injury in weight lifting than in weight resistance training (i.e. using machines). This is due to the great technique and form that must be used to perform the Olympic lifts with heavy weights. Also, the Olympic lifts and other movements will always be taught and scaled appropriately, and always done under the supervision of coaches to ensure proper form and safety.

Why You’ll Love Training With Us

HERE’S WHAT YOU WANTED TO KNOW, RIGHT?

ARE YOU GOING TO KILL ME?

Absolutely not. Going outrageously hard when starting out serves no benefit to you. All our workouts are designed to be challenging but they are scaled to your own personal abilities. We are here to motivate, encourage and help you enjoy your exercise, not to make you cry and hate it! All you need to do in the beginning is to just show up and give your best.

WILL I GET BULKY?

Nope! Bodybuilders train for hours and hours every day focusing on specific movements. CrossFit is an effective way to build strength, burn fat, and increase cardio capacity but it won’t make you big and bulky.

DO I NEED TO BE FIT TO DO CROSSFIT?

No you don’t. New members participate in our beginner’s program and then transition into general classes. Our beginners program is designed to ensure the safety and success of our new members.
